FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
GENERAL
This tournament is called a "Cup Qualifier". What do teams qualify for?
There will be approximately six (6) PrimeTime Sports Cup Qualifier tournaments in Texas between November 2006 and May 2007. The top three teams in each age and skill divisions will receive a berth in the PrimeTime Sports Cup Championship Tournament - June 8-10, 2007. Some of the cities tentatively included in this tournament series are Denton, Gainesville, The Colony, McKinney, and Carrollton.
Are these "Full-sided" tournaments or 6v6, 7v7?
These are "full-sided" tournaments in that the number of players on the field corresponds with most association rules for regulation play. For specific rules of play, including number of players, roster size, field size, etc. please click on the "Tournament Rules" link.
Who are these tournaments sanctioned through?
Our tournaments are sanctioned through either US Club Soccer, an affiliate-member of the United State Soccer Federation (USSF), or the North Texas State Soccer Association (NTSSA), which is a charter state association of the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA), a USSF member organization. Because of the insurance we carry for our tournaments, our tournaments are "un-restricted". This permits us to accept teams from the four USSF outdoor soccer member organizations, including all USYSA charter state associations, American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA), Soccer Association for Youth (SAY), and U.S. Club Soccer.
Will there be separate skill divisions?
Yes, we will have separate skill divisions in order to facilitate fair competition at three basic levels - Recreational (Under 5-19), Academy (Competitive Under 7-10)*, and Competitive (Under 11-19). Teams will not be permitted to play in a skill division that does not match their skill level. In some instances, highly skilled Recreational teams may be allowed to play in the Academy or Competitive division. It may also be necessary to have separate skill levels within the Competitive division.
* Per NTSSA rule, U7 and U8 Academy teams are not allowed to participate in tournaments which are sanctioned through NTSSA
REGISTRATION
How do we register our team for a Cup Qualifier?
Tournament registration is online. Click on the 'Cup Qualifier Tournament Registration' button. There, you will be directed to the online registration form and directions on how to submit payment.
Do we need to send in our official roster, guest player forms, and medical release forms with our entry form and entry fees?
Please do not send in your medical release forms, bring them to tournament check-in. We must receive your official team roster and guest player forms at least 7 days prior to the start of the tournament"
CHECK-IN
When and where is tournament check-in and what do we need to bring to check-in?
For Cup Qualifiers, teams are required to have a representative at tournament headquarters for check-in AT LEAST 30 minutes prior to the start of the team's first scheduled game of the tournament. In the event that games are played at multiple soccer complexes, teams will check-in at the complex where they play their first scheduled game of the tournament. Team representatives must bring their team's medical release forms with ALL required signatures. Teams that do not submit a copy of their game report in advance of the tournament are also required to bring 5 copies of the game report with completed roster section to tournament check-in (not required for U5-U8 Recreational teams).
REFEREES
Where do you get your referees?
For tournaments in the DFW Metroplex, the referee assignor for the host city assigns the U5-U10 Recreational division games and we assign the Academy and U11-U19 Recreational and Competitive division games
Do referees get evaluated?
Referees get evaluated two ways. First, we have NTSSA assessors at most Cup Qualifier games to critique and offer advice to referees at all skill levels. Second, we encourage teams to complete a referee evaluation form and submit it with their game sheet after each game.
Why do you have the referees evaluated?
Teams deserve to have their games officiated by men and women who take their job seriously, are well trained, and make consistent calls and/or no-calls. We want the best officials working for PrimeTime Sports all year long, especially at the Cup Championship Tournament. We need to identify which referees need improvement and which referees are doing a good job. Referees who consistently receive negative evaluations risk not being assigned to our tournaments.
PLAYERS
Do we need to bring our player id cards?
Please have your player id cards at the tournament in case a team files a protest about the age of a player(s) on your team.
How many players can we play with and what is the maximum number of players we can bring?
Those numbers vary amongst the age groups. Please click on the "Tournament Rules" link.
